The vines started their road to perfection early so there was abundant “hang time.” Subtle aromas of red apple and toasty brioche lift the curtain on pear, apricot and butter flavors with a dollop of cream. The 2012 season proved to be near perfection for growing wine grapes and Benziger’s 2012 cabernet sauvignon ($20) is a prime example.
